When you arrive in the Indies--no matter who you are--you will find people waiting for you. They will find you sooner or later, without you having to look for them.

If you arrive in the Indies, you arrive at the right place. That is the unbroken rule.

It matters little whether you are a prince or a slave, whether you are a Moor or a Jew, whether you hide a fortune up your arse or clutch a penny in your fist. Wait to be found. Aspire to be discovered.

But to run away from your destiny--now that is a crime. In thick jungles and parched fields, filthy cities and humid villages, across river and ravine, every single place will hiss its welcome to you and the more you run, the more you will be found.
