Daytime is my playmate, my child-friend: incoherent and unrestrained and always escaping and sometimes a delight and other times a nuisance. It is nighttime that I cherish as my confidante, my soulmate. The sun makes every hour brittle - every hour breaks in its passing; I sit and watch moments collapse, scatter, vanish. I am run over by this armada of time. It is my avowed enemy- this light, this singular solar furnace of a world. It is only in darkness that my heart-space and mind-space unfold to embrace time. I lay my bait for the stars and they relent. I can have conversations with the moon for I can look at it in the eye. I can lay in the open as exposed as a mountain-peak. I soak in the darkness. This parched darkness soaks me back in return.
